As major M&HCV players like Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Volvo Eicher & Mahindra’s have released their sales figure for September-2020, there are impression of recovery from the lockdown that was imposed due to COVID-19. Unlock-5 coupled with upcoming festive seasons has started showing some glimpses of recovery as the overall sales figure achieved in September-2020 combining all OEMs is much better than what we saw in August-2020 or July-2020 for that matter.
Tata Motors have sold 4606 M&HCV trucks in September-2020, which is just 9% lower than 5082 units they sold in September-2019. There is huge recovery of 67% from August-2020 when TML as able to sell 2746 numbers only.
Ashok Leyland figures are even more exciting as not only they have recovered by 50% in September-2020 with 3202 M&HCV domestic volumes which was just 2132 units in August-2020, but they have increased their sales by 2% in comparison to 3131 M&HCV trucks in September-2019.
The best gain in the segment have been reported by Volvo Eicher Trucks. With 572 numbers in September-2020, they have surpassed their September-2019 sales volume of 525 M&HCV trucks by 9%. There is a recovery of 62% sales in September-2020 viz a viz August-2020 when they sold just 354 numbers.
The biggest setback has been reported by Mahindra Trucks as they have lost 63% of the volume in September-2020 with just 153 M&HCV trucks, the volume was 408 trucks in September-2019. However, there is a recovery of 47% in September-2020 in comparison to 104 units in August-2020.
Overall the figures are quite encouraging for M&HCV segment with 57% recovery in Spetmber-2020 from August-2020. In comparison to September-2019, there is just a degrowth of 7% in September-2020. Entire industry is hopeful that figures are going to be much better in October-2020 with festive season around the corner.
The market leader Tata Motors have maintained their leadership with 54% market share in M&HCV truck segment. Ashok Leyland stood strong at 2nd position with 38% market share. Eicher Trucks & Mahindra Trucks are at 7% & 2% market share respectively in September-2020.
